What is passion and how do you get some?

The dictionary defines passion as an uncontrollable emotion. So that must mean if you're passionate about something you feel very strongly about it. When I think of my passion I think about what I believe in. It's part of who I am. Ensuring it's done right is part of my repertoire and even part of my integrity. Since I work with America's future adult citizens, I am committed to seeing each one of the students under my care succeed. It's not okay if one of them is unsuccessful. In order for me to feel okay about a student's minimal growth I have to be sure that I have tried and explored every possible avenue. That's who I am. That's what I believe in. Education is my passion.

So how do you find your passion? Immediately I think about choosing your attitude. Funny how everything I talk about in these blogs pretty much is under the context of choosing my attitude. If you're not sure what your passion is, then be prepared to choose the right attitude and reflect. If you don't have the right attitude, your reflections will be as good as null and void. You can't go into a supermarket thinking the customer service is the worst. Why? Well because if you expect the worst, you most likely will receive the worst. If you have negative energy, you will most likely attract negative energy.

Something else that could help you find your passion is listing all of the things you actually enjoy doing. The list must be genuine, and after you create the list you will have dissect the list. What exactly from each task you noted do you really enjoy? Think about it this way, you work at Publix and you like it. You think, maybe I could be a manager at Publix. If you dissect it, you might find out that what you love about Publix is not the groceries or making orders or even the hours. What you really love is the customer service model. So maybe you can work for companies to help them improve or implement an effective customer service model. I would caution not to confuse a hobby with a passion for your profession. After all you do have to eat. You should think hard and make sure that your passion can be a profession.
