Writers in Winter

Winter is here and for many of us it's a time to relax, join family, and try to stay away from too many of the harsh elements of nature. For writers, it's just about the most natural times of the year to spend working on our craft.

Personally I have just a couple of pieces of advice:

Winter scenery- Yup! Enjoy the winter scenery. There's nothing like snow on the ground, or watching the greenery around you transform into it's winter state. So wherever you are enjoy the change, the cool air, the brisk mornings and maybe even a fire from the fireplace or backyard fire pit. Winter scenery also comes with winter holidays. You'll get to spend a lot more time with friends and family. Enjoy this rejuvenation time, suck up all of the positive vibes and allow it to be a part of you this winter. Hear stories, tell stories, and make sure to note some of them down. You'll never know when you might need a boost of inspiration.
As you probably know, and if you live in the northern part of the country you may know better, the colder temperatures makes us all wish we could just stay indoors. Well- good news writers this is a perfect excused to do so. As you stay indoors take time to write, write and write some more. Look through writing ideas you've written in the past and maybe dust those off. It is a great time to write.
Last, but not least, for me it is an oportune time to plan. Yes, even amidst the pandemic, we should all plan our writing goals, presentations, and even marketing during this time for the year 2021. As CEO of 1010 Publishing, we have a 5 Year Strategic Plan, but we monitor annually to ensure we are on the right path.

The election cycle brought out a lot of emotions and thoughts to the forefront of our lives. Let us take time to decompress and focus on what is really important- our loved ones.
